Is the ball vape setup complete?
A ball vape uses heated balls to store heat: air passing through them picks up heat and warms the plant material. Designs include modular desktop systems and portable devices. The parts you need depend on the specific system.
Several components need to work together in a modular desktop ball vape. Ask the seller to confirm each included part. A listing described as a set may still exclude the water piece, for example.
| Component | What to confirm before buying |
|---|---|
| Heater head | Which manufacturer and version? Are there modifications, damaged or missing parts? |
| Coil or heating station | Is the heater intended for this system included and undamaged? |
| Controller and power supply | The PID is the temperature controller. Does the manufacturer confirm that the controller, heater, operating voltage and cables are compatible? |
| Bowl / herb chamber | The bowl holds the plant material. Does it fit both the heater head and the glass connection? |
| Glass and adapters | Is the required glass included? Check the joint size and whether the connection is male or female. |
| Stand, balls and screens | Are a suitable stand, the intended balls and retaining screens included? Check for replacement needs. |
The same connector does not guarantee compatibility
Controllers and coils can use identical-looking connectors with different wiring. Ask the manufacturer to confirm the exact combination before connecting components from different systems. A photo of the plug alone is not enough.
Cannabis Hardware: connections and compatibilityPortable ball vapes have a different design. For a Tempest, for example, check the specific device and the intended external heat source. The desktop checklist cannot establish whether a portable setup is complete.
Your second-hand ball vape buying checklist
Version and included parts
Record the exact model, proof of purchase where available, modifications and all included parts. List missing components before comparing prices.
Current close-up photos
Ask to see the head, bowl, glass, cables, connectors and stand. Check for cracks, damaged cables, loose parts and unusual residue.
Evidence of operation
Ask for current evidence that the offered combination works. A lit display alone proves neither a working heater nor compatible components.
Cleaning and replacement needs
Check cleaning against the specific manufacturer's instructions. Do not assume electrical parts can be immersed. A seller's claim of cleaning does not mean sterile or professionally inspected.
Total cost and handover
Include shipping, missing glass and necessary replacement parts. Agree on shipping destination, protective packaging, payment and handover arrangements beforehand.
What does a used ball vape really cost?
Compare the same model version with similar included parts. A cheap head on its own and a set with a controller are not equivalent offers. Extra accessories only add value if you need them and they are usable.
Comparison cost = asking price + shipping + required missing parts + foreseeable replacements
We do not yet publish a general market price here: there is not enough comparable data. Listing prices are asking prices, not confirmed transaction prices. Also check a current new-device offer for the same version.
Understand designs and model families
Modular desktop devices
For families such as Graveda Ball-Vape OG or Cannabis Hardware FlowerPot, the specific combination of head, heater, controller and bowl matters.
Systems with a heating station
For listings such as Graveda EPIC or Crossing WOHW, confirm the exact version and matching station. “Wireless” does not automatically mean operation without an external power supply.
Portable designs
Compare MAD Heaters Tempest and Tempest 2 separately from desktop sets. The heat source and accessories must suit the specific version.
Questions about buying a used ball vape
What should a used ball vape include?
It depends on the model. A modular desktop system needs a matching heater head, its intended heater and controller, a suitable bowl and vapour path, and a safe stand. Glass or adapters may be needed separately. Compare the included parts with the instructions for the exact version.
How can I tell whether a set is complete?
Look for a clear parts list, current photos and confirmation that all components required for your setup are included and compatible. The words “set” or “complete” in a listing are not sufficient.
Can I mix controllers and coils from different manufacturers?
Not automatically. Even identical-looking connectors can have different wiring. Check manufacturer-confirmed compatibility for the exact coil, controller and operating voltage.
Which photos and evidence of operation should I request?
Ask for current photos of the head, bowl, glass and electrical connections, plus clear evidence of operation. Confirm modifications, damage and missing parts. Photos do not replace a technical inspection.
How do I compare listings with different accessories?
Add shipping, required missing components and foreseeable replacements to the asking price. Compare that total with an equally equipped offer for the same model version.
